Horned Frogs finish with fifth consecutive winning season, a program record
OCALA, Fla. – Despite a valiant comeback effort, the seventh-seeded TCU equestrian team fell to No. 2 Texas A&M, 11-8 on Thursday afternoon at World Equestrian Center.
The Aggies took Reining and Fences, but TCU earned event wins on the Flat and in Horsemanship.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The meet began in Fences and the Aggies started fast by taking three points in the event. Lex Lipacis took TCU's lone point with a 79, while Maggie Dumrauf's 84.7 ended in a drew point.
Success continued for Texas A&M in Reining, as they took four points to hold a commanding lead after two events. Earning TCU's lone point was Calla Thomas with a 70.
On the Flat, TCU was able to fight back to give themselves a chance, winning three points. Lex Lipacis, Victoria Zahorik and Lilly Goldstein all earned the points for TCU, making the score 9-5 heading into the final event.
In Horsemanship, Calla Thomas and Peyton Staat took the first two points to cut it to two, but A&M would earn the next two to clinch the meet. Marcella Bee picked up a victory in the final ride of the day.
