Horned Frogs Commence 2022-23 Season with Shutout of Tarleton

The performance marked TCU's 11th straight season-opening win
FORT WORTH – TCU equestrian commenced its 2022-23 season in convincing fashion, pitching a shutout vs. Tarleton for the second straight year.
The Horned Frogs earned a 12-0 exhibition victory over the Texans on Friday at Bear Creek Farms.
The result signified TCU's 11th consecutive season-opening victory, dating back to 2012.
RUNDOWN
The teams each entered four athletes in Fences, Horsemanship and Flat. Reining did not factor into the final score, as TCU was the lone team to compete in the event.
Fences kicked off the mid-morning affair and proved to be the Horned Frogs' most dominant discipline. TCU claimed all four points behind a combined score of 327 points – its highest of the meet. Freshman Jordyn Scelsa was the first Frog to take the saddle and debuted in style, earning a score of 88 points to lead all competitors and her first set of Most Outstanding Performer accolades. Fellow newcomers Ally Manoog and Ella Bostwick were every bit as impressive, as they were awarded respective scores of 85 and 81. Rounding out the scoring was junior Hannah Loeffelbein at 73 points.
The action then transitioned to the covered arena for the start of Western events, beginning with Horsemanship. TCU tallied a combined 297 points. Sidney Dunham was named the Most Outstanding Performer behind a 78-point score. Also picking up points for TCU were Alexis Cook (74 points), Tatum Keller (73 points) and Catherine Goffard (72 points).
The scored portion of the meet concluded with Flat. TCU nearly matched its Fencing point tally, as the Horned Frogs amassed 325 points. Sophomore Laurel Smith led the way with a score of 89 points – the highest of any athlete in any event. Bostwick and Manoog completed the Fencing-Flat two-step and padded TCU's margin of victory with respective scores of 84 and 76. Manoog was crowned Most Outstanding Performer following the event. Victoria Zahorik completed TCU's quartet in the event and obtained 76 points in her first collegiate ride.
TCU's Reining lineup was comprised exclusively of freshmen. Kaylene Cunningham led the way with 74.5 points to claim Most Outstanding Performer credentials. Anna Clausen's performance was awarded with 71.5 points. Kylie Baker picked up 69.5 points and Lannie-Jo Lisac closed the show for TCU with a score of 65.
