Frogs look to make their mark in Eugene
FORT WORTH – The TCU track & field teams qualified nine entries to this year's NCAA Outdoor Championships. With several of the Horned Frog entries seeded in the top 10, TCU is looking to make their mark at this year's championships.

Chengetayi (Du) Mapaya is the top seed in this year's triple jump after leaping 17.07m (55-3) at this year's NCAA West Regional. The Harare, Zimbabwe, native is currently No. 1 in the NCAA and No. 7 in the world. Earlier this year, Mapaya won his third consecutive outdoor title and his fifth overall Big 12 Triple Jump Championship. He looks to win his second NCAA Outdoor Championship as he previously won gold in the triple jump in 2019.
Robert Gregory Jr. and Tinotenda Matiyenga each qualified in three events (200m, 4x100 and 4x400). Gregory returns to Eugene following his First Team All-America honors in the 200m last year as he finished eighth in the finals. Matiyenga was named Second Team All-America last year in the 200m. Earlier this season, Gregory and Matiyenga finished second and third, respectively, at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 200m with times of 20.77 and 20.84.
This year's 4x100 and 4x400 teams have been ranked in the Top 10 in the NCAA all season. The 4x100 team of Bryson Stubblefield, Matiyenga, Kundai Maguranyanga and Gregory earned an automatic qualification from their third-place finish in their heat at the NCAA West Regional. TCU has now won back-to-back Big 12 Championships in the 4x100. The Horned Frogs ran their fastest time of the season this year to capture the conference title with a time of 38.50 (38.62@).
The 4x400 team of Maguranyanga, Gregory, Simbarashe Maketa and Matiyenga posted a 3:02.17 to finish second overall at the NCAA West Regional and punch their ticket to Eugene. Currently, the 4x400 team ranks No. 8 in the NCAA. The team of Maguranyanga, David Seete, Maketa and Ethan Brown placed third at this year's Big 12 Championships.
The final men's entry for the Horned Frogs is Jaren Holmes in the triple jump. He finished 12th overall at the NCAA West Regional with a mark of 15.88m (52-1.25). The North Carolina transfer has made an immediate impact this year with his fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 16.09m (52-9.25).
On the women's side, Kasey Staley finished fifth overall at the NCAA West Regional as she cleared 4.21m (13-9.75). Earlier this year, Staley took third at the Big 12 Championships with a personal-best height of 4.30m (14-1.25). She has placed in the top 5 eight different times this season. Staley currently holds the outdoor school record (4.30m) and the indoor school record (4.27m).
Gracie Morris continued her stellar sophomore season by qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1500m. She placed sixth overall with a time of 4:19.50 at the NCAA West Regional. Morris currently holds the indoor mile school record (4:40.81) and the outdoor 800m (2:05.38) and 1500m (4:14.59) school records. She placed fourth at this year's Big 12 Indoor Championships in the mile.
Grace Anigbata became the latest TCU school-record holder as she jumped 13.48m (44-2.75) to finish sixth at the NCAA West Regional. Earlier this season, she won the triple jump at the Jim Click Shootout with a leap of 13.27m (43-6.50). Anigbata qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships this season as well.

2022 NCAA Indoor Championships
The Horned Frogs shined at the NCAA Indoor Championships with the men's team finishing 10th overall with a team score of 20 points.
Robert Gregory Jr. was named the national runner-up in the 200m with a time of 20.77 and Tinotenda Matiyenga followed closely behind him by finishing third with a time of 20.84. Both Frogs earned First Team All-America honors.
Chengetayi (Du) Mapaya was named a First Team All-American after earning bronze in the triple jump with a mark of 16.51m (54-2).

Mapaya returns for his final outdoor season to defend his national title in the outdoor triple jump from 2019. He also garnered a bronze medal at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships as well. As a freshman in 2018, Mapaya reached the championship in the triple jump and finished third with a 16.38m (53-9) jump.
Mapaya secured the national championship in the most dramatic fashion possible. Going into his sixth and final jump of the night, Mapaya was in third place after a jump of 16.94m (55-7) in his fifth attempt. On the final jump of the competition, Mapaya jumped 17.13m (56-2.5) passing up event leader Jordan Scott of Virginia (17.01m, 55-9.75) and winning the national championship. It was TCU's first national title in track and field since Ronnie Baker won the 60m dash in 2016.
He broke the school record in the triple jump at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships with a mark of 16.95m (55-7.5). He currently holds both the indoor and outdoor TCU triple jump records.
