Sprints shine on Day One
EUGENE, Ore. — Robert Gregory Jr. and the men's 4x100 team advanced to Friday's finals on Day One of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The 4x100 team flew into Friday's finals, finishing second in their heat with a time of 38.95. The squad of Bryson Stubblefield, Tinotenda Matiyenga, Kundai Maguranyanga and Gregory clocked their fifth sub-39 time of the season. The reigning Big 12 Champions will race in the finals Friday night at 8:02 p.m. CT.
Gregory qualified for his second finals event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as he placed ninth overall in the 200m semifinals. The sophomore ran a personal-best time of 20.34 to advance. This is Gregory's second consecutive year making the 200m finals at the outdoor championships. Earlier this year, he was the national runner-up in the 200m at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The 4x400 team of Maguranyanga, Simbarashe Maketa, Gregory and Matiyenga garnered Honorable Mention honors with a time of 3:05.00, finishing 18th overall.
Matiyenga finished 19th overall in the 200m with a time of 20.68, earning Honorable Mention honors.

Day Two kicks off the action for the women's team. Gracie Morris will compete in the 1500m semifinals at 7:46 p.m. CT and Kasey Staley takes part in the pole vault finals at 8:00 p.m. CT.
