
Macnab Named Big 12 Freshman of the Year

FORT WORTH – TCU freshman Caitlyn Macnab was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Sabrina Iqbal earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Team as the conference awards were handed out on Friday.
Macnab, who also earned All-Big 12 honors, finished her first season at TCU with a stroke average of 71.5, breaking the TCU record. The Johannesburg, South Africa native had 22 rounds of par or better, 130 birdies and seven eagles. Her season-best score of 13-under 203 gave her a runner-up finish at the Jim West Challenge. It was one of six top-10 finishes for Macnab, including five finishes in the top five.
Macnab's award list includes being named to the WGCA Freshman of the Year Watch List, WGCA All-American and First-Team Academic All-Big 12. She is the first Horned Frog to be named Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
Iqbal, a senior from San Jose, Calif., had a career-low 71.8 stroke average. She set a TCU record with her 9-under 63 in the final round to win The Bruzzy with an 11-under 205. Her six eagles, 21 rounds of par or better and 114 birdies trailed only Macnab for the most in a season at TCU. Iqbal carded a team-best 11 sub-70 scores on the season. Among her six top-10 finishes, Iqbal finished fourth at the NCAA Regional.
Iqbal also earned All-Big 12 honors as a freshman in 2019.
