TCU freshman finishes 4-under-par for her third runner-up finish of the season
NAPA, Calif. -- TCU freshman Caitlyn Macnab finished second with a 4-under 212 as final-round action concluded Wednesday at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif.
Macnab, who began play at the tournament just two days after competing at the Augusta National Women's Amateur and tying for 16th, posted her fourth top-3 finish in the last six TCU tournaments. Included in that stretch are three runner-up results.
The 2-under 70 gave Macnab her 17th score of par or better in 24 rounds this season. She carded her fifth eagle of the year, on the par 5 487-yard fifth hole, to tie Valeria Pacheco's TCU season record set last month. It also extended the Horned Frogs' season mark to 15 eagles. The previous record was nine in the 2019-20 campaign.
The 28th-ranked Horned Frogs were 14th in the standings, just five strokes out of a top-10 finish in a 16-team field that featured 11 of the nation's top-40 programs.
TCU senior Sabrina Iqbal tied for 20th, her 26th top-20 finish in 37 career tournaments. She had a final-round 74.
Caroline Jordaan posted a team-best four birdies on the day en route to a 76 and her best round of the tournament.
TCU returns to action Monday when it begins play at The Bruzzy, held at Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth. Admission is free. Monday's opening two rounds will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
