Alvarez/Moreno and MacTavish/McHugh named to Conference All-Tournament Team

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- No. 2 TCU beach volleyball (38-2) fell to No. 4 Florida State, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in the CCSA Conference Championship match. It was TCU's first-ever appearance in the conference tournament championship match.

Two Horned Frog pairings were named to the CCSA Conference All-Tournament team in Daniela Alvarez/Tania Moreno and Sutton MacTavish/Kaylie McHugh. Alvarez and Moreno took straight set victories over Tulane and FSU for a 5.5-point average margin of victory the last two days. MacTavish and McHugh were responsible for securing the Frogs place in the conference championship match with their three-set victory over FSU's No. 2 pairing.

QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 4 FSU:

Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno were the first Horned Frog duo to finish their match against the Seminoles.
The duo suffered a close two-point loss in the first set before falling in the second for a final score of 19-21, 15-21.
Alexis Filippone and Hailey Brockett tied the match when FSU forfeited the match due to injury: 14-21, 15-15 FT.
The No. 3 pairing improved their seasonal record to 22-6.
The duo tallied their 11th ranked victory of the season.
Filippone notched her 27^th win of the season and Brockett her 28^th.
Megan Muret and Rochelle Scott finished third in the dual, falling short to the Seminole's No. 5 pairing in a close second set: 13-21, 19-21.
TCU needed both of its remaining pairings to score to win the dual.
Sutton MacTavish and Kaylie McHugh took a six-point victory in their first set before falling 18-21 in the second. The duo was headed to three when the match ended.
Simultaneously, Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara were playing their third set. FSU only needed one pairing to score in order to clinch the victory over the Frogs.
FSU's No. 4 pairing secured the Seminole victory with their win over Alvarez/Vergara.
