Six total selections are most in program history since joining the Big 12
IRVING, Texas – A total of six TCU women's basketball student-athletes were named to the 2021-22 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the league office announced on Thursday.
Graduate students Michelle Berry and Aahliyah Jackson, along with senior Patricia Morris and junior Tavy Diggs were each named first team honorees. Seniors Kayla Mokwuah and Yummy Morris were both tabbed second team selections.
This marks the third Academic All-Big 12 honor for Diggs, who also earned first team honors in 2020-21. She was named to the all-academic rookie team as a freshman in 2019-20. This is the second-straight and second all-academic honor overall for both Berry and Y. Morris. Berry was a first team selection last season, while Y. Morris was named to the second team.
Jackson earns Academic All-Big 12 honors for the first time in her career, but this marks the fourth all-academic honor she has earned in her career overall. Prior to transferring to TCU, Jackson was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection at Texas A&M in 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2019-20.
Both Mokwuah and P. Morris earn all-academic honors for the first times in their careers.
TCU tied a program record with four first team honorees, matching the four first team selections from the 2019-20 squad. This marks the first time in program history though, that a TCU squad has had a total of six selections between first and second team honorees.
A total of 48 Horned Frogs have earned all-academic honors in the past eight seasons under head coach Raegan Pebley. That total includes 24 first team selections, 13 second team honorees and 11 freshmen named to the all-academic rookie team.
The Horned Frogs will be back in action this Saturday, Feb. 26, taking on the No. 11-ranked Texas Longhorns in Austin. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Erwin Center.
