
Rifle To Face Air Force on Thursday, NCAA Qualifier on Saturday

TCU and Air Force both rank in the top 10
FORT WORTH – The No. 3 TCU women's rifle team will host No. 7 Air Force in a pair of matches this week. The first will be the regular season finale for both teams on Thursday. Saturday's matchup will be the NCAA Qualifier.
The NCAA qualifier will be the final score necessary to determine which eight teams will travel to Colorado Springs to compete in the NCAA Championships in March. The first three scores come from regular season matches, and all three must come from separate locations. The fourth score calculated into the average is the qualifier score.
The Horned Frogs ranked third nationally in aggregate average (4,722.9) and fifth in smallbore average (2,341.5). The team remains in first in air rifle average (2,381.4).
Stephanie Grundsoee leads the team in individual aggregate average with a 1,185.6 and sits fifth nationally after firing a career-best aggregate score against UTEP. She also sits fifth in air rifle average with a 596.7 on the season. Stephanie Allan is in the top 10 in the discipline with an average of 594.6. Anne White's air rifle average is 0.3 behind her teammate and places her 11th in the nation. Kristen Hemphill, who did not compete against UTEP, remains in the top 20, placing 14th with her air rifle average of 594. Nina Schuett matched her career-high air rifle score (596) against UTEP and is 31st nationally. Abigail Gordon set a new career high in air rifle over the weekend (596) and comes in at 34th.
Grundsoee also leads the Horned Frogs in individual smallbore average (588.9), placing sixth nationally in the discipline. Hemphill also remains in the smallbore averages top 20, sitting at 15th overall. Allan fired a 584 over the weekend and sits at 32nd in the nation. Schuett set a new career-high in smallbore after firing a 587. She sits right behind her teammate at 33rd. Gordon, who has served as a counter in all matches this season, ranks 36th in the nation with her average of 581.6. White shot a 571 in smallbore against UTEP and is 67th nationally. Grace Taschuk traveled with the team to El Paso and fired a 575. She ranks in the nation's top 100 at 71.
Air Force ranks seventh in the latest CRCA poll and in the NCAA three-score average (4,715.33). The team has a smallbore average of 2,325.7 and an air rifle average of 2,379.8.
Thursday's match will begin at 8 a.m., and Saturday's match will begin at 9 a.m. Both matches will be held at the TCU Rifle Range.
