
TCU Defeats UTEP in El Paso

Schuett has a career day on the range
EL PASO, Texas – The TCU women's rifle team fired an aggregate score of 4,733 to defeat UTEP (4,555) Saturday. The team fired a smallbore score of 2,348 and an air rifle score of 2,385, while the Miners shot a 2,261 in smallbore and a 2,294 in air rifle.
Stephanie Grundsoee led the Horned Frogs in air rifle, firing a near perfect 599. Her lone miss came in her third set of 10 shots. Nina Schuett finished second in air rifle, matching her career high with a 596. Abigail Gordon set a new career high with a 596, finishing third in the discipline. Anne White and Stephanie Allan both served as counters in air rifle in the match, firing a 594 and a 592, respectively. Grace Taschuk fired a 588, placing sixth in the discipline.
Grundsoee also led the team and the match in smallbore, shooting a 595. Schuett finished second in smallbore with a career-high 587. Allan placed third after firing a 584, and Gordon placed fourth with a 582. White served as a counter in the discipline and fired a 571. While not contributing to the team's score, Taschuk fired a 575.
TCU posted six of the top 10 scores overall. Grundsoee led all shooters of the match with an aggregate of 1,194 followed by Schuett's 1,183. Gordon and Allan finished third and fourth respectively with their 1,178 and 1,176. White placed fifth overall with an aggregate of 1,165, and Taschuk placed sixth with her aggregate of 1,163.
The Horned Frogs will compete next Thursday and Saturday at home against Air Force. The match on Saturday, Feb. 19 will be the NCAA Qualifier.
