TCU Battles, But Cyclones Earn Road Win Against Frogs

Four Frogs with double-digit scoring efforts on Saturday
FORT WORTH – TCU's Lauren Heard scored a team-high 17 points and dished out her 500th career assist, but it wasn't enough as the No. 9-ranked Iowa Cyclones earned a 93-70 Big 12 Conference win over the Horned Frogs Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena.
THE RUNDOWN
The Horned Frogs registered a season-low five turnovers and outscored the Cyclones 30-22 in the paint, but ISU countered with 19 three-pointers on the way to earning the road victory. TCU shot 40 percent or better from the field for the third time in the past five games, but the Cyclones registered 36 three-point attempts on the day, netting a tick better than 52 percent from beyond the arc.

• For a third straight game, TCU's starting line-up consisted of Okako Adika, Tara Manumaleuga, Michelle Berry, Kayla Mokwuah and Lauren Heard.
• TCU totaled single-digit turnovers (5) for the first time this season and for the first time since giving up just nine turnovers to Kansas State back on Feb. 10 of last season.
• It marked the least number of turnovers in a game for the Horned Frogs in the Raegan Pebley era … the previous low was six turnovers against Iowa State back in the 2019-20 season.
• Heard dished out a team-best seven assists on the day, giving her 501 assists in her career.
• Heard becomes just the third player in school history to dish out 500 assists in a career.
• Heard, who finished with 17 points, now has 1,914 points in her career … she is the first player in school history and just the eighth player in the NCAA in the past 22 seasons to total at least 1,900 points, 750 rebounds, 500 assists and 250 steals.
• Mokwuah tied her career-high at TCU with 12 points. She was 6-of-10 overall and also managed to tie for the team lead with five rebounds.
• Manumaleuaga notched her third blocked shot of the season and sixth block in her career.
• Yummy Morris scored 14 points for the Frogs off the bench, netting her second-highest total in scoring when coming off the bench this season (18, vs. Cal Baptist).

TCU is back on the road this Wednesday, Feb. 16, making the short trip down I-35 to face No. 10-ranked Baylor. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Ferrell Center.
