TCU Drops Hard-Fought Battle to (RV) South Florida in Maggie Dixon Classic, 66-59

FORT WORTH, Texas - Three Horned Frogs scored in double-figures but TCU was unable catch the South Florida attack in a 66-59 loss Sunday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena in the Maggie Dixon Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
TCU used a season-best 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter to trail by only four points (58-54) after a three-point basket by Tomi Taiwo. South Florida regained control on the next possession with a three-pointer of their own and were able to close out the game. Taiwo led the Horned Frogs in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field. Roxane Makolo finished her stat line with a 15-point and four-rebound performance, while Lucy Ibeh added 11 points and went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Emily Fisher pulled down seven rebounds, leading the team in that category.
Overall, TCU shot 21-for-58 from the field and 5-for-17 behind the arc. They dished out 11 assists as a team and forced the Bulls into 13 turnovers.
Elena Tsineke led South Florida in scoring with 21 points, while Carlo Brito added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
With the loss, TCU evens their record to 2-2 on the season, while South Florida moves to 5-0.

Coach Raegan Pebley commented in the post game press conference. "I was proud of how our team responded, especially with how our rotations were off for different reasons. I thought our team executed the defensive game plan really well. However, at the start of the third quarter we were too flat and when two good teams are playing each other those margins of air are slim."

TCU continues their home stretch with a matchup against Sam Houston State on Wednesday, November 23rd. Tip-off against the Bearkats is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. inside Schollmaier Arena. The game will be live on television on Big 12 Now and ESPN Plus, along with airing live on the radio through KTCU.
