Brosam’s first career goal is the game-winner
FORT WORTH – Two goals in the final eight minutes of regulation led No. 17 TCU to a 3-1 win over UTSA in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night at Garvey-Rosenthal. Brenna Brosam scored her first career goal in the victory, while Lauren Kellett finished with two saves.
The Rundown
TCU dominated possession early in the contest and created several solid opportunities in the opening minutes of play. The Horned Frogs capitalized in the 12th minute when a shot by Gracie Brian ricocheted off a UTSA defender into the left corner of the net, giving TCU the 1-0 lead.
Despite TCU maintaining control of the ball throughout the first half, a TCU foul led to UTSA's lone goal of the game. The Roadrunners' Sasjah Dade headed a free kick feed into the net, tying at one.
The Frogs continued dominating the possession game in the second half. TCU had a stellar scoring opportunity in the 61st minute when Messiah Bright's header ticketed for the top corner was knocked away by UTSA's Mia Krusinski.
TCU's pressure game finally paid off in the final minutes. After a loose ball bounced around inside the six, Brenna Brosam's shot into the bottom corner of the net gave TCU the lead in the 82nd minute.
Just two minutes later, Camryn Lancaster collected a rebound off a saved Messiah Bright shot and blasted it past the diving keeper to give TCU a 3-1 lead with six minutes remaining.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
On his overall thoughts of the game
"Congratulations to UTSA for a great season. They definitely made it hard on us. I thought we started off the game really well and they tried to frustrate us. I think our group really stayed with the game plan and did not get frustrated. I'm happy for our group and like I tell them, the first game is always hard in the NCAA Tournament."
On how TCU did offensively
"It's not about the shots, it's about the chances we create. I thought we created some really good chances and we were able to find goals late in the game to finish it off."
The impact the midfielders Gracie Brian, Payton Crews, Oli Pena and Michelle Slater had tonight
"All of them were great. They helped us circulate the ball and I thought they did some really good things as far as helping us change the point of attack and getting us into a nice rhythm."
