Ten Horned Frogs honored by league coaches
FORT WORTH – Grace Coppinger headlines a group of 10 TCU Horned Frogs honored as All-Big 12 selections. Coppinger was named Freshman of the Year while five Frogs were tabbed 1st-team All-Big 12.
The Frogs led the Big 12 in total honorees. Gracie Brian, Messiah Bright, Chaylyn Hubbard, Lauren Kellett and Camryn Lancaster all earned first team honors while Olivia Hasler was tabbed 2nd-team All-Big 12. TCU led the league with four representatives on the Big 12 All-Freshman team. Seven Castain, Kennedy Clountz, Coppinger and Tyler Isgrig, were all honored by league coaches.
Coppinger made 11 starts and played in 16 games in her rookie campaign. The Kansas City, Mo., native tallied four points on the year (1G, 2A), including three points in a win over Iowa State (Oct. 9). She played the entirety of eight matches this year, including seven in Big 12 play. Coppinger has amassed 1,087 minutes on the field this season. In games she played, TCU recorded eight shutouts.
Brian had a stellar senior campaign in which she started and played in 15 games. She is third on the team with 13 points (5G, 3A). Brian has three game-winners on the season, including the game-winner in the Frogs' 1-0 win at Kansas (Sept. 25). She played the entirety of four matches this year. Brian is a two-time, first-team all-conference selection after earning the honor in 2021 and is tied for the program's all-time assists record (23).
Bright, a five-time all-conference performer, continued her dominance this season as the team's leader in points with 23. The graduate forward has 10 goals and three assists on the year. A United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week selection (Aug. 31), Bright became the first player in TCU history to record two hat tricks. She has two game-winners this season and ranks first in the Big 12 in shots (70). She is the program's all-time leader in goals (49) and points (115).
Hubbard made her mark in her final year with the Frogs, tallying a team-high 1,528 minutes over 19 starts. The graduate defender scored her first career goal in TCU's 1-0 win at Kansas State and recorded a career-high two assists against No. 16 Harvard. Hubbard made her 100th career start against Texas Tech (Oct. 27) and played the entirety of nine matches. The Frogs have registered 10 shutouts on the year.
Kellett tallied eight shutouts this season and posted an .800 save percentage. She recorded five shutouts in Big 12 play and held conference opponents to just four goals. Kellett was tabbed the Big 12 Player of the Week (Oct. 17) and had three shutouts this season against teams that were ranked or receiving votes.
Lancaster tallied nine points (4G, 1A) in her sophomore season with the Frogs. She tallied the game-winning goal at No. 21 Texas A&M (Sept. 8) as well as the game-winner at Oklahoma State (Oct. 13). Lancaster has played in and started 19 games this year.
Hasler played in and started 18 games this season. She tallied three assists on the year, including a career-high two assists against Iowa State (Oct. 9). Hasler was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 13) and played the entirety of 10 matches this season. The Horned Frogs had 10 shutouts this season in games she started.
Castain started nine contests and played in all 19 games in her debut campaign. She had a career-high two assists against UTRGV (Aug. 28) and scored her first career goal against West Virginia (Oct. 6). Castain finished the regular season slate with five points (1G, 3A).
Clountz has also been instrumental in TCU's offense this year. She started eight game and played in all 19. She scored her first career goal against No. 17 Santa Clara and has recorded two goals and two assists this season.
Isgrig had one of the best starts in program history. The freshman is second on the team in points with 15. Her six goals are the second-most on the squad. She also added three assists. She garnered Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors and was recognized nationally by College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer (Sept. 13).
TCU returns to action against Oklahoma on Thursday in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Round Rock Multisport Complex. The game will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
