
Rifle to Travel to Columbus to Compete Against Ohio State

The Horned Frogs are ranked first nationally in air rifle average and fourth in aggregate average
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's rifle team will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Saturday to compete against Ohio State and UTEP. The Horned Frogs are ranked first nationally in air rifle average (2,379.375) and fourth in aggregate average (4,718).
TCU notched a pair of wins over the Buckeyes last weekend in its first action of the spring. In Saturday's match against Ohio State, TCU fired a smallbore score of 2,338 and an air rifle score of 2,386 to combine for an aggregate of 4,724. The air rifle score ranks as the program's second-best. The Horned Frogs produced seven of the top 10 shooters in the match.
In Sunday's match, TCU fired a smallbore score of 2,330 and an air rifle score of 2,386 to finish with a 4,716 aggregate. The Frogs once again had seven of the top 10 shooters in the match.
Stephanie Grundsoee leads the team in aggregate average (1,184.125) and sits sixth nationally in air rifle average (596.125). Stephanie Allan picked up right where she left off in the fall, firing another career-high in air rifle (597) over the weekend helping her to rank 14th nationally in the discipline. Anne White also shot a career-high in air rifle (598). White ranks 16th in the discipline with her average of 593.875. Kristin Hemphill sits right behind her at 17th with an average of 593.375. Abigail Gordon fired a 587 in the first match and a 592 in the second match to contribute to the team's score.
In smallbore, Grundsoee ranks sixth nationally in smallbore average (588). Hemphill finished third in the first match and fourth in the second match in smallbore to help her secure the 12th place spot nationally. Nina Schuett served as a counter and placed third in smallbore in the second match. Allan fired a 584 and a 578 in the discipline. In the second match, Gordon finished second in smallbore with a score of 586. White served as a counter in the first match and fired a 580. Noelle Christensen broke her career-high in discipline after firing a 578.
Ohio State was led by Viktor Kiss and Derek Keiser last weekend who both finished in the top five individuals in both matches. Ohio State ranks 10th nationally in aggregate and air rifle averages and eighth in smallbore averages.
UTEP is led by Isabel Brooks who has an overall aggregate average of 1,147.8 so far this season. As a team, the Miners are ranked 21st nationally in aggregate average (4,560.8).
The match is set to begin at 8 a.m. at the Lt Hugh W. Wylie Range.
