Team sets new air rifle, smallbore and aggregate scores
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The TCU women's rifle team fired a program-high aggregate of 4,752 to defeat Ohio State in Columbus. The Horned Frogs also set new standards in smallbore (2,358) and air rifle (2,394). Ohio State shot a 2,322 in smallbore and 2,372 in air rifle for an aggregate mark of 4,694.
The Frogs produced six of the top 10 scores in smallbore. Kristen Hemphill led the team and the field with a score of 591. Abigail Gordon set a career-high and finished second with a 590. Stephanie Grundsoee finished third with an identical mark of 590. Anne White also shot a career-high 589 in smallbore to finish fourth in the discipline. Stephanie Allan was among the individual record breakers with her 587. Nina Schuett served as a counter in the discipline and finished 10th with a 578.
TCU fired six of the top 10 scores in air rifle. Hemphill and Grundsoee both fired a near perfect 599 in the discipline. White and Allan set career-bests with each shooting a 598. Gordon served as a counter in the discipline and fired a 594 to place seventh in the discipline. Schuett matched her career-high with a 596.
Overall, the team had six of the top 10 individual shooters. Hemphill led the team and was the match's top shooter with an aggregate of 1,190. Grundsoee finished second with a 1,189. White fired an aggregate of 1,187 to place third overall. Allan ended her career day with her aggregate of 1,185 to finish fourth. Gordon was not far behind with a 1,184, placing fifth. Schuett rounded out the Frogs' shooters in eighth place her aggregate of 1,174.
