FORT WORTH – TCU freshman guard Mike Miles has been invited to attend the USA Basketball U19 training camp to compete for a spot on the 2021 U19 FIBA World Cup Team.
The camp will take place in Fort Worth, June 17-28. The FIBA World Cup will be held in Riga, Latvia, July 3-11.
The Lancaster, Texas native averaged 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists last season for the Horned Frogs, one of just five freshmen in the country to average over 13 points, three rebounds and three assists per game. Miles was one of five players named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and was also named All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention.
Miles had several standout performances in his first collegiate year including a season-best 28 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and three steals at Missouri. It was one of four games that Miles scored 20 or more points.
Prior to TCU, Miles attended Lancaster High School and was the TABC 5A Player of the Year in 2020.
The FIBA U19 World Cup for men features the world's top 19-year-old and younger players and is conducted every other year. The last tournament that was held saw USA defeat Mali in 2019. Players on the 2019 team included 2020 NBA Draft lottery pick Tyrese Haliburton and projected No. 1 2021 NBA Draft selection Cade Cunningham.
