Krob tosses career-high 7 innings
FORT WORTH – Austin Krob carried a no-hitter into the seventh and the TCU offense struck for 10 runs in the first three innings to help the No. 12 Horned Frogs run away with an 11-2 win over Baylor Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Zach Humphreys tallied four hits and drove in three runs to lead the way.
The Rundown
Austin Krob (3-0) was nearly unhittable on the mound in tossing a career-high seven innings. The left-hander allowed just three base runners on two walks and one hit. After issuing a one-out walk in the fourth, he retired the next 10 he faced before allowing the lone hit with two outs in the seventh. He matched his career-high with nine strikeouts.
TCU sent 10 men to the plate in the first and scored five times as it took advantage of a two-out error to score four unearned runs. Zach Humphreys drove in the first run of the game with two outs. Following the miscue, Hunter Wolfe hit a three run home run into the bullpen for a 4-0 lead. Back-to-back singles from Porter Brown and Tommy Sacco followed to put runners on the corners. Gray Rodgers singled to make it a 5-0 game.
A pair of runs came around in the second as the lead grew to 7-0. Wolfe beat out a double play ball to drive in the first run of the inning. Brown's second hit of the afternoon drove in Humphreys.
Humphreys doubled and Gene Wood hit a two run home run in the third to give the Frogs a 10-0 lead.
TCU's final run of the game came in the sixth. Rodgers led off the inning with a base hit and scored on Humphreys' fourth hit of the day.
Baylor picked up two runs in the ninth to account for the final score.
Braxton Pearson, Augie Mihlbauer and Drew Hill combined to get the final six outs of the game.
