TCU NOTABLES:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 (TCU, 25-20): When TCU needed a kill, Julia Adams was the solution as TCU seized momentum by stringing together a couple of runs in the middle of the set to take the advantage. With the score tied, 9-9, The Frogs rattled off a 9-4 run fueled by kills and a solo block from Adams along with an ace from Dennison, to go in front, 18-13. TCU would nurse that lead to a five-point set victory thanks to a total of eight kills from Adams on 13 swings. Clark was a terrific second option in the offensive arsenal, delivering four kills on five swings down the middle, adding a block for good measure. Dennison was the stalwart on the back row, leading the team with four digs and successfully receiving all six serves sent her way.
Set 2 (OU, 25-17): The Sooners jumped in front, 12-5, and TCU never managed to get the score much closer as OU won the second set. The Sooners offense found plenty of holes in the Horned Frog defense this set, giving Jill Kramer plenty to talk about in the five-minute break before the third.
Set 3 (TCU, 25-15): The Horned Frogs came into the third set with renewed energy and answered the defensive challenges of the previous set with a dominant third set performance. TCU went on a 14-4 run to turn a 5-5 score into a 19-7 blowout thanks to three kills from Katie Clark, a good run of serves from Georgiades and a pair of blocks from Manyang, Clark and Audrey Nalls. The set was clinched by an ace from Wehrstein to give TCU it's most lopsided set victory of the spring, that is, until the fourth set result came in. Clark, Adams and Manyang combined for 10 kills and MyKayla Myers, Nalls and Manyang each posted two blocks in the set.
Set 4 (TCU, 25-13): With the victory in sight, the Frogs pounced, once more going on a big run at the 5-5 mark to go ahead, 12-6. The TCU block was unavoidable as Clark led the Frogs to five blocks as a team, forcing OU into difficult attacking positions and forcing plenty of Sooner errors. Manyang and Adams led the team with three kills each as Clark added two kills and three blocks. Georgiades was all over the back row, seeking out seven digs to give TCU plenty of chances. By the end of the set, TCU had hit .308 with 11 kills while holding Oklahoma to -.094 hitting to reset the mark for the largest margin of victory in a set this spring.
