Norris, Schroeder and Aristegui register singles wins as the doubles point proves costly
AMES, Iowa – The doubles point came back to haunt No. 41 TCU women's tennis (9-6, 3-2) as the Horned Frogs fell to No. 43 Iowa State, 4-3, Sunday afternoon. The loss ends the Frogs' four-game winning streak as TCU finishes its longest weekend road trip of the season with a 1-1 record.
"I'm really proud of our team this weekend," head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "This is always a tough travel trip on and off the court, but our ladies never complained and had an attitude of gratitude the whole way through. They have some moments today where they could've hung their head and felt sorry for themselves and given up, but they didn't do that. A lot of credit goes to Iowa State today. I know how hard Boomer has worked to build their team and program. There's always things we can improve on and I think one thing we are learning from all these 4-3 matches is that the opportunities are sometimes earlier in the sets to take the match and dictate, rather than at the end when everyone is playing with high emotion and high level. But that's not to take anything away from today's match. It was an epic college tennis match as most 4-3s are and it went their way today. It's a real joy and privilege to coach this team and I couldn't be prouder. They're representing TCU and their families with first class attitudes and for that I am thankful."
TCU dropped the doubles point at No. 1 and No. 3. The top of the singles lineup came through with three wins, but losses at No. 4-6, split singles play, resulting in the 4-3 final score. The Horned Frogs fall to 2-3 against ranked opponents this season.
