Frog Focus
TCU is coming off a strong week, posting a 6-3 record in singles matches and 2-2 in doubles play against No. 12 Baylor and Oral Roberts. The Frogs were exceptional at the top of the singles lineup, winning all three matches against the top opposition, on the road, at Baylor.
Marie Norris enters the weekend in tremendous form after claiming three wins (two singles, one doubles) last week. Norris was unstoppable against Oral Roberts, going undefeated on the day, only losing one game: 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.
Mercedes Aristegui leads the team with a perfect, 9-0 dual singles record. She set a career-high with a 20-set winning streak to start the season, the longest set winning streak by any Horned Frog in the Lee Taylor Walker era.
The Horned Frogs shuffled the doubles lineup for the first time this season in their last match, with great success. The new pairings of Stevie Kennedy/Norris and Tate Schroeder/Addy Guevara dominated their matches against Oral Roberts, winning 6-1 and 6-0 respectively. Walker is hoping the new lineup can retain their form as conference play begins.
Scouting the Opponents
No. 45 Kansas enters play with a 5-3 (1-1 Big 12) record. The Jayhawks have won four of their last five duals, including wins over Iowa State and Arizona. TCU leads the all-time series, 6-4, but all four of KU's wins have come in the last four meetings.
No. 43 Kansas State will play its first match in nearly three weeks on Friday, at Texas Tech. The Wildcats have had their last three duals postponed or canceled. Prior to the shutdown, KSU had won four in a row, over Arizona, Wichita State, Denver and Drake. TCU leads the all-time series 9-1, including an active eight-dual winning streak.
