Lauren Heard becomes member of the 1,500 career points club
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Lauren Heard scored 35 points and the TCU Horned Frogs erased what was once a 16-point deficit, but despite taking the Kansas State Wildcats into overtime, TCU dropped a Big 12 Conference road contest, 79-76, Monday evening at Bramlage Coliseum.
TURNING POINT
The Horned Frogs trailed by 16 points midway through the second quarter and managed to cut the lead down to 10 at the half, trailing 37-27. TCU pulled within five points of K-State after three quarters of play, down 55-50, and then used an 8-0 run to take its first lead of the game with less than four minutes to play in the fourth quarter – up 58-57.
It was a back-and-forth contest after that with a total of eight different lead changes down the stretch. Heard hit a clutch three-pointer with less than 30 seconds to go, tying the ballgame at 64-all and eventually leading TCU into overtime with the home team.
K-State opened the overtime period with a 6-2 run and TCU managed to claw its way back, eventually taking a 74-73 lead with less than 1:30 to play. A couple of turnovers led to buckets for the home team and the Horned Frog's last gasp half-court effort came up just short.
