Rifle Comes Up Short Versus No. 3 West Virginia

Allan and White fire career high marks
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 4 TCU women's rifle came up one shot short against No. 3 West Virginia. The Frogs fired an aggregate score of 4,723, while the Mountaineers fired a 4,724.
TCU was ahead after smallbore, firing a team score of 2,342 to West Virginia's 2,339. The match came down to air rifle in which TCU shot 2,381, four shots behind West Virginia's 2,385.
Junior Stephanie Allan and freshman Anne White both fired career highs in smallbore with 586 and 576, respectively.
In the same discipline, Grundsoee led TCU with a score of 588. Abigail Gordon and Kristen Hemphill fired identical marks of 584. Sophomore Nina Schuett also contributed to the team score, firing a 577. Junior Grace Taschuk fired a 575 and senior Noelle Christensen shot a 568 to round out the TCU shooters.
TCU finished with four of the top 10 air rifle shooters of the match. Grundsoee shot a near perfect 598 to lead the team. Gordon fired a 595 to place sixth in the discipline, Not far behind her was Allan with her 594 in seventh. Hemphill and White both served as counters with scores of 586 and 594, respectively. Schuett, who fired a 589, finished 14th in the discipline. Also competing were Christensen, who fired a 574, and Grace Taschuk, who shot a 584.
The Horned Frogs had three of the top 10 shooters overall in the match. Grundsoee (1,186) finished second, and six points behind her was Allan (1,180), who finished fourth. Gordon was one point behind Allan, firing a 1,179 on the day, placing her sixth overall.
TCU will host its home opener Saturday, Nov. 13 against UTEP and Nebraska.
