Team fires best mark of the season
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The TCU women's rifle team fired its best aggregate score, 4,727, this season to secure their fourth win of the season over Army (4,684) and Akron (4,669). The aggregate mark is the seventh-best in program history.
The team fired a smallbore score of 2,345 and an air rifle score of 2,382. Army finished with a 2,327 in smallbore and 2,357 in air rifle, while Akron finished third with 2,315 in smallbore and 2,354 in air rifle.
Abigail Gordon shot a career-high 586 in smallbore while Anne White matched her career-high 596 in air rifle.
TCU finished with five of the top 10 scores in smallbore. Kristen Hemphill and Stephanie Grundsoee finished first and second with scores of 590 and 588, respectively. Gordon came in fourth with her career-high mark. Also contributing to the team score were Stephanie Allan and Nina Schuett, both with a 581 in the discipline. Also competing were Noelle Christensen, who fired a 570, and Grace Taschuk, who shot a 575.
The Frogs produced six of the top 10 shooters in air rifle. Grundsoee led the field with a 597. White tied for second with a 596 followed by Hemphill's 595 in fourth place. Finishing fifth was Gordon with a 594. Allan also contributed to the team score with a 593. Christensen fired a 579 and Taschuk a 589 to round out the TCU shooters.
The team had five of the top 10 individual shooters, Grundsoee (1,185) and Hemphill (1,185) placing first and second, respectively. Gordon finished fourth overall with a 1,180 aggregate score. Not far behind was Allan with a 1,174, placing sixth. Schuett rounded out the Frogs in the top ten with her 1,173, finishing ninth overall.
TCU will hit the road again to take on West Virginia in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 6.
