Rifle Set For Big Match Against West Virginia

Both teams are ranked in the top 4
FORT WORTH - The No. 4 TCU women's rifle team will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to compete against No. 3 West Virginia on Saturday.
TCU is currently undefeated in the first four matches of the season and sits third nationally in aggregate average (4,719.75). The Horned Frogs' air rifle average of 2,378.25 ranks them second, while their 2,341.5 in smallbore is third nationally.
The team shot their top aggregate score of the season (4,727) last weekend and will look to build off of that this weekend. TCU fired a smallbore score of 2,345 and an air rifle score of 2,382 to pace the field of three. TCU produced five of the top 10 shooters in the match against Army and Akron.
Stephanie Grundsoee leads the team and is tied for second nationally with her smallbore average of 589.75. Senior Kristen Hemphill finished first in smallbore last weekend with a score of 590. Hemphill currently sits ninth nationally in the discipline with an average of 586.5. At Army, Abigail Gordon fired a career-high 583 in smallbore. Stephanie Allan and Nina Schuett finished in the top 10 last weekend, both with scores of 581.
Grundsoee finished first at Army with a near perfect air rifle score of 597 and an aggregate score of 1,185. She sits third nationally with her aggregate average of 1,187 and is tied for sixth nationally with her season air rifle average of 596. Freshman Anne White fired another 596 and ranks 14th in the country with her season average of 593.5. Hemphill and Allan are both ranked in the top 20 in the nation in air rifle with season averages of 594.25 and 593.75, respectively.
Last weekend, junior Grace Taschuk fired a 575 in smallbore and a 589 in air rifle and senior Noelle Christensen shot a 570 in smallbore and a 579 in air rifle.
West Virginia is also undefeated so far this season. The Mountaineers are first nationally in air rifle with an average of 2,379.5 and second in smallbore with a season average of 2,347. The team is led by Tal Engler and Molly McGhin, both ranked in the top 10 nationally with aggregate averages of 1,183.
