
Frogs Open 2021-22 Season in California

No. 6 TCU set to open season against No. 9 South Carolina, No. 7 Fresno State and UC Davis this weekend
FRESNO, Calif. – No. 6 TCU equestrian team heads to California this weekend, where they will face three acclaimed opponents. The Horned Frogs open their 2021-22 season on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Fresno State Horse Center against No. 9 South Carolina in Horsemanship and Flat. They will then compete in a double header on Saturday, taking on No. 9 South Carolina in Fences and Reining followed by a full meet against No. 7 Fresno State. The weekend will conclude on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the UC Davis Equestrian Center against UC Davis.

SCOUTING THE FROGS
The Horned Frogs are coming off a 16-0 showing at their preseason exhibition where they defeated Tarleton State.
TCU returns five of its seven All-America honorees from a season ago in Mattie Dukes and Jessica McAllister on the Western side and Jacey Albaugh, Isabella Baxter and Ashleigh Scully for the Jump Seat. TCU finds itself ranked inside the top-10 for the ninth straight year and has been a part of the preseason poll every year since the formation of the NCEA.
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
No. 9 South Carolina return three Gamecocks who earned All-America honors last season, Sloane Vogt in Reining, Madeline Schaefer in Fences and Caroline Bald in Flat. The Gamecocks lead the Frogs in the all-time series, 13-3, including a record of 7-1 on neutral ground. The last time the two competed South Carolina defeated TCU 13-5 in 2019.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
No.7 Fresno State is coming off of a 5-6 2021 Spring season where they were ranked as high as No. 5 in the NCEA. The Bulldogs return 27 riders from the 2019-20 roster two being All-Americans, Lexee Padrick in Reining and Ana Bertozzi in Flat. The last time the Frogs and Bulldogs competed TCU took the win 15-4. TCU holds the all-time series lead of 11-8.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
UC Davis returns 11 of the 12 riders that showed at the ECAC conference championships, including two All-America honorable mention selections, the ECAC Freshman of the Year in Flat, Carly Sweeney and all-conference selection Ella Longo who was named to both the All-Flat and All-Fences teams. The Aggies started their 2021-22 campaign Thursday outscoring No. 9 South Carolina 11-6. TCU heads into the meet 1-0 against the Aggies where they defeated them 12-4 in 2019.
