TCU drops second straight to Cowgirls in 69-50 defeat

STILLWATER, Okla. – TCU's Lauren Heard bounced back with a 22-point effort in a road game at Oklahoma State, but the Cowgirls came away with the victory, 69-50, at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday. The loss dropped the Horned Frogs to 5-5 overall and 0-5 in Big 12 play, while OSU improved to 9-2 on the season and 5-0 in league play.

TURNING POINT
Oklahoma State forced nine turnovers in the first quarter and used a 14-0 run in the frame to take a 22-8 lead. TCU drained back-to-back three-pointers to open the second quarter, but the home team would go on to outscore the Frogs 15-8 the rest of half. OSU outscored TCU 26-14 in the third quarter on the way to its 19-point victory.

• Due to a last-minute schedule change, TCU's game at Oklahoma set for Saturday, was replaced with a road game at Oklahoma State.
• TCU and Oklahoma State are playing in back-to-back games after the Cowgirls visited Fort Worth on Wednesday.
• TCU is playing the same team in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2018-19 season when the Frogs hosted Texas on March 5, 2019, and then took on the Longhorns in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City on March 9, 2019.

• Lauren Heard bounced back from just a six-point effort on Wednesday, finishing Saturday's game with 22 points. She has now scored 10 points or more in nine of 10 games this season.
• Heard has scored 15+ points in 12 of her last 14 games and this marks the fourth game this season with 20+ points.
• Adhel Tac pulled down a new career-high in rebounds. She had seven boards in the game, surpassing her previous career-high of two rebounds.
• Michelle Berry led the way in rebounds, pulling down eight boards in the game. Berry has posted at least eight rebounds in six of nine games this season.
• Heard led the team with five assists. She has dished out five assists or more in seven of 10 games this season.

TCU will have another change in the schedule when the team heads to Austin later this week to take on the Texas Longhorns. The Horned Frogs will replace its originally scheduled game with Kansas State, taking on the Longhorns this Thursday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Erwin Center.
