FORT WORTH — For the second consecutive year, Connie Deighton and Izzy Ashdown will represent TCU at the NCAA Diving Zones. Competition runs from Monday through Wednesday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium in Dallas, Texas.
Last season, Deighton became the first Horned Frog to reach the final round at the Zone meet since 2009. She scored 225.35 to break into the top 18 and advance to the finals. In the final round, Deighton improved her score to a season-best 227.80 for a 15th place finish.
Ashdown just narrowly missed the platform in 2019 with a 19th place finish in the prelims. She also finished 20th on 1-meter dive and was only 2.51 points short of reaching the finals.
This season, Ashdown broke two school records in a dual meet against UIW. On 1-Meter, Ashdown's 323.625 bested Kirsten Connolly's 2016 record of 321.30. In 3-Meter, the Sydney, Australia native's 362.175 edged Kelly Seely's 360.15 that had stood since 2006.
Action begins at 11 a.m. CT all three days. Live results can be found at DiveMeets.com and a live stream will be available on PonyUp TV at SMUMustangs.com/watch.
The top five female divers from each event at their respective zone diving meet will be eligible to compete at the NCAA Championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's NCAA Championships. All eligible divers must have achieved the zone qualifying score prior to the NCAA Championships in all events they wish to participate.
