FORT WORTH -- TCU women's tennis aims to maintain early season momentum as the Horned Frogs prepare for their second duel of the season against New Mexico at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

TCU is coming off its 4-3 victory over Rice on Sunday. The Horned Frogs utilized a workmanlike approach in singles play to secure four victories and claim the season opening win, 1-0.
Mercedes Aristegui claimed her first victory at the No. 1 singles position, her 10th victory of the 2019-2020 season. She has proven herself to be a tremendous competitor in her second season. Her victory on Sunday improved her three-set record this year to 5-2.
Stevie Kennedy collected the best win of her career on Sunday when she took down the No. 86-ranked singles player in straight sets. She won her opening set, 6-0, her second bagel of the season. She has now won three sets against ranked opponents this season while earning her first-career victory at the No. 2 slot.
Marie Norris leads the team with three victories this spring, including a straight-set win at No. 6 over the weekend. Meanwhile, Kate Paulus improved her record to 2-1 when she clinched the match at No. 4. Both of her 2020 wins have come in three-sets.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS
New Mexico split a pair of matches last weekend against New Mexico State (L, 4-3) and UTEP (W, 4-1). The Lobos are 4-0 in doubles play so far and looking for their first win in the series against TCU. The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series, 12-0.
