Frogs' Comeback Falls Short to Fresno State

TCU finishes conference play
FORT WORTH – The No. 7-ranked TCU equestrian team fell short of a come-from-behind victory, falling 10-9 to No. 4-ranked Fresno State, Friday afternoon at Diamond Creek Ranch.
TCU earned both Western Most Outstanding Performer awards and won the Western discipline, 6-3.
THE RUNDOWN
The morning started with Fences action where TCU (5-6, 2-4 Big 12) won the event 3-2. TCU's Raegan Rast and Izzy Baxter both posted event-high scores of 71. Wynne Weatherly and Alex Beneson also won their points with scores of 70 and 68, respectively.
Action then turned to the Flat arena where Fresno State (7-4, 3-1 Big 12) swept the event. Beneson put together the highest tally for Flat with a score of 78 on Tony. Fresno State's Brooke Nelson won the MOP in the event.
Reining finished with the Frogs taking the event 3-1. Elena Hurd was the high-scorer in the event with a 72 and she went onto earn MOP honors for her ride on Bud. Bella Andrews also put together a solid ride, winning 70.5-64.5. Claire Dittrich won the last point for the Frogs, coming out victorious on Britney.
All eyes then turned to the Horsemanship ring as TCU trailed Fresno State, 8-6. After dropping the first point, Drew Rogers earned TCU a point on Gomer, carding a 73. Jamie Cook earned the second point the Frogs needed, putting together an event-best 76 to beat out Fresno State's Hannah Way, who notched a 75.5. Josie Mootz won the third point, 73.5-71, on Willy. All tied up at 9-9, Mattie Dukes turned in a score of 71 on Cupid, but Fresno State earned the final point with a score of 73.5, seasling the victory for the Bulldogs.

- Western horse Cash will be retiring from TCU after today's meet.
- Jamie Cook tied a season high with her Horsemanship score of 76.
- Cook earned her first MOP of the season and fourth of her career.
- Raegan Rast recorded her team-leading 10th win in a single event.

- Hurd won her first MOP of the year and seventh of her career.
