Horned Frogs go 3-0 this season against in-state Big 12 opponents
The TCU defense recorded five sacks, three by Ochaun Mathis, for the second straight game and held the Red Raiders to 89 yards of offense in the first half in building a 10-3 lead at the break. Texas Tech's initial first down of the game didn't come until less than 10 minutes remained in the first half.
With the Horned Frogs leading 27-18 and possessing the ball at their 19 with two minutes to play, Duggan kept the ball up the middle on a 3rd-and-11 and outraced the Red Raiders' defense the length of the field into the end zone. It was the longest rushing touchdown by a quarterback in TCU history.
Duggan finished with a team-best and career-high 154 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He had a 3-yard scoring run to give TCU a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter and then a 48-yard burst up the middle to extend TCU's margin to 27-10 with 38 seconds left in the third quarter.
Derius Davis, who had a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown last week at Baylor, returned four punts for 103 yards. He had returns of 20 and 50 yards to set up TCU scores.
In addition to Davis, the special teams were led by Ben Wilson and Carter Ware who blocked punts. Wilson has a punt block in each of the last two games.
TCU led 10-3 at the break and opened the second half with a 12-play, 89-yard scoring drive, capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by Quentin Johnston on a 3rd-and-goal. It gave the Horned Frogs a 17-3 advantage.
