Four Horned Frogs secure multiple victories to close out the fall season
FORT WORTH -- TCU Women's Tennis concluded its 2020 fall schedule this weekend with a series of strong results at the Fall Series Championships in Stillwater, Okla. Four Horned Frogs earned multiple victories over the course of the weekend with Stevie Kennedy and Margaret Polk each claiming two singles victories while the doubles pairing of Addy Guevara and Marie Norris finished the weekend with a 2-2 record.
TCU finished the weekend with five singles victories spread out between four student-athletes. Polk and Kennedy headlined the competition with two wins each.
Polk, playing in the third singles flight, suffered a loss in her opening match, before bouncing back with a pair of victories to claim the consolation title. She took down opponents from Texas tech and Iowa State to collect her eighth and ninth wins of the fall, matching her total from the entire 2019-20 campaign.
Kennedy faced stiff competition in the second singles flight and, much like Polk, would have to recover from an opening day defeat in order to rattle off a pair of hard-fought wins to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record. Kennedy finishes her fall season with steady results, posting a 5-4 record in singles action while playing against some of the top players in the region.
In doubles action, Marie Norris and Addy Guevara returned to the courts as a double pairing, collecting a pair of victories across four matches. They were the fifth and sixth wins for Norris this fall, while Guevara claimed her first wins of the fall this weekend, after recovering from an injury.
The Horned Frogs will return to the practice courts to prepare for the 2021 season. TCU opens the spring with a home tournament on January 8-10 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
