
Douglas Begins NCAA Run

Freshman Ellie Douglas will start the NCAA Singles Championship on Monday morning.
ORLANDO, Fla. – Freshman Ellie Douglas will begin her run at the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championship that will run from May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., as the 64-player singles field was announced on Sunday.
Douglas, who was the 13th player in program history to be selected for the singles championship and first since 2015, will face No. 7 seed Alex Graham of North Carolina in the opening round on Monday at 9 a.m., CT. The Tennis Channel will have live broadcasts of action each day, while other matches will be streamed online.
The freshman, who is ranked No. 49 in the Oracle/ITA rankings, has racked up 11 wins this season including five over ranked opponents. The McKinney, Texas native has been ranked for the last month in the singles poll and had previously climbed to as high as No. 51. Douglas, who joined the team in January, played solely at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles and recorded six singles wins in her first season in the Big 12.
Douglas has picked up multiple postseason honors in her debut season including Big 12 Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 Singles First Team, All-Big 12 Doubles Second Team, Big 12 All-Freshman Team and ITA Texas Region Rookie of the Year.
