Jordan Moore posts fourth double-double in the last five games
LUBBOCK, Texas – Behind the strength of Jordan Moore's fourth double-double in the last five games, the TCU women's basketball team overcame a 15-point second-half deficit to pick up a huge road win at Texas Tech, 70-63, on Wednesday night at United Supermarkets Arena.
The win marked TCU's largest comeback of the season as it won its fifth consecutive game to improve to 17-5 on the season and 7-4 in Big 12 play.
Moore finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and a block in the win. She scored 14 of those points in the second half and the Horned Frogs outscored the Lady Raiders (10-12, 1-10), 22-8, in the fourth quarter alone to finish off the comeback.
Amy Okonkwo and Kianna Ray added 14 and 10 points, respectively, as well, while Lauren Heard had nine points, six rebounds and five assists.
THE RUNDOWN
TCU opened the game on fire, shooting 50 percent in the first quarter to take a 17-14 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The second quarter didn't go quite as well, with Texas Tech using a 16-2 run over a four-minute span in the middle of the frame en route to a commanding 38-29 advantage at the break.
The Frogs got a couple of big 3-pointers by Ray and Okonkwo with under a minute in the frame to keep the score within single digits.
The Lady Raiders kept applying the pressure to start the second half, however, going up by as many as 15 with 4:29 left in the third quarter.
The Frogs were undeterred though and started clawing their way back. They held TTU without a field goal for the final 3:18 of the third quarter and scored the final five points of the stanza to trim their deficit to seven going into the final quarter.
TCU continued to slowly march its way back into the game until back-to-back 3-pointers by Dakota Vann and Okonkwo sped the process up and made it a one-point game with 6:43 remaining in the game.
Moore tied the game just moments later when she powered her way to the bucket to bring the game back to even, 59-59, at the 4:43 mark.
The Horned Frogs then sealed the game with a 6-0 run in which both Moore and Woods scored three points each to put the tally on the scoreboard at 67-61 with 33.1 seconds remaining.
STAT OF THE GAME
15– The 15-point comeback was TCU's largest of the season and marked the biggest deficit it has overcome in a victory since coming back from being down 18 points in a 78-70 overtime win at West Virginia on Jan. 13, 2018.
