
Rifle Scores Win At NCAA Qualifier

Team fires second-highest score of the season
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The TCU women's rifle team got the postseason started off on the right foot as the Horned Frogs fired the highest qualifier score in the NCAA on Saturday. The Frogs topped Air Force by nine shots, 4711-4702.
With their score, the Frogs have guaranteed their spot in the upcoming NCAA Championships. It'll mark the 13th straight year the Frogs will be one of the eight teams to compete for the National Championship.
Air Force and TCU fired identical scores of 2,331 in smallbore. TCU's mark of 2,380 in air rifle provided the difference in the match. The score was tied for the ninth-highest in program history.
Kristen Hemphill led all shooters in smallbore, firing a 587. Rachel Garner finished fourth among competitors after shooting a 584. Angeline Henry rounded out the top five with a mark of 583. Catherine Miller (7th, 580) and Elizabeth Marsh (10th, 577) rounded out the top 10. Miller's score tied her career-high.
Casey Lutz paced the field in air rifle, firing a 597. Henry turned in a second place finish after shooting a 596. Garner's mark of 594 was fifth, followed by Hemphill with a 593 to finish sixth. Marsh finished 10thafter shooting a 589.
For the match, TCU produced three of the top four shooters. Hemphill finished second individually with an aggregate score of 1,180. Henry's aggregate score of 1,179 was third followed by Garner's 1,178. Lutz finished eighth with an aggregate of 1,170. Miller rounded out the top 10 with an aggregate score of 1,167.
TCU will officially be named one of the eight teams to qualify for the championships on Tuesday, Feb. 19 when the NCAA Selection Show airs on NCAA.com at 4 (CT).
