
Ryan and Bright Earn All-Midwest Region Honors

Duo is honored for the second straight year
FORT WORTH – A pair of TCU soccer athletes were voted to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region. Yazmeen Ryan was tabbed a first-team performer, while Messiah Bright was named to the second team. It marks the second straight year the duo have been honored.
For the third time in her career, Ryan has been selected to the All-Midwest Region. As a freshman, she earned third-team recognition. The last two seasons have seen her voted to the first-team. A three-time All-Big 12 performer, Ryan put together a career-year in 2019. She set personal bests in goals scored (7), assists (9) and points (23). She finished tied for second in the Big 12 with the nine assists and tied for eighth in total points. The nine assists tied a school single-season record.
Bright put together a career-year in her sophomore campaign. She became the first Frog since Jordan Calhoun in 2008 to score double-figure goals with a career-high 12. The 12 goals are tied for the third-most in a single season. She also contributed six assists for 30 points this season, a mark that ranks third in the Big 12. She contributed two game-winning goals and led the team with 94 shots. The 30 points are the most by a Horned Frog since Calhoun's 32 in 2008 and are tied for the second-most in program history.
TCU has had an all-region performer in each of the last four years. Bobbi Clemmer's recognition in 2014 on the third team was the first under head coach Eric Bell. Jordan Calhoun was TCU's first-ever recipient in 2008. Emma Heckendorn was named to the third-team in 2016. A school-record four were named in 2017. Ryan Williams (1st-team), Katie Lund and Karitas Tomasdottir (2nd-team) and Ryan (3rd-team) were honored. Ryan and Bright were TCU's 2018 honorees.
