Frogs make last trip out of Texas for the fall
AUBURN, Ala. – The fifth-ranked TCU equestrian program will head off to SEC country for a tri-meet weekend where they will face Sweet Briar and SUNY New Paltz in Jumping Seat competition this Friday starting at 10 a.m. The Frogs will then turn their attention to No. 1 Auburn on Saturday for a complete meet, set to kick off at 11 a.m.
DIRECTOR OF EQUESTRIAN HALEY SCHOOLFIELD
"We have been practicing and competing at a high level recently and we expect no difference this weekend as we head off to face some tough competition. We are grateful to Auburn for hosting us in this weekend's action."
SCOUTING THE FROGS
TCU moved up one spot in the NCEA top-10 poll after defeating SMU last weekend. The Frogs travel a roster with many familiar faces to past TCU lineups. The Frogs added some upperclassmen leaders to the roster in the form of Courtney May and Kathleen Harrigan. On the western side, the Frogs travel a group that has seen action all season, with the addition of Bella Andrews to the ranks.
The Frogs have not traveled to Auburn since 2011 when the competed in the Tiger's facility five of six seasons from 2006-2011.
SCOUTING THE VIXENS
Sweet Briar enters this weekend's play with a record on 1-2 in Jumping Seat. The Vixens picked up their win (7-3) against New Paltz on Oct. 4. Sweet Briar fell in their season opener, 4-6, against ninth-ranked Fresno State at home, an opponent the Frogs bested 7-3 in Jumping Seat. Sweet Briar is also a member of the newest conference in the NCEA, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, a conference that TCU is already 2-0 against this season with wins coming against South Dakota State and SMU.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
SUNY New Paltz is in its inaugural season of NCEA competition and a member of the ECAC. The Hawks are 1-2 on the season with their lone win coming over Lynchburg on the road. TCU and Auburn will be the Hawks' first taste of action outside of the ECAC as they have only faced conference opponents to this point.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Auburn will host the two-day event and head into the weekend the No. 1 team in the country, a distinction it has held for two consecutive years. The two-time defending national champions enter competition on a 23-meet win streak, the longest in the country. The Tigers have not competed since their opening weekend where they took on UT-Martin and Oklahoma State at Martin, Tenn. This weekend will mark the 2019 home opener for the Tigers.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Auburn leads the all-time series advantage over TCU, 7-2, and have won the last five meetings between the two sides, with the last three meetings coming at the NCEA National Championship. Both of TCU's wins have come on the road against the Tigers with the Frogs' last win coming on Oct. 11, 2010.
TCU is 1-0 all-time against Sweet Briar, with the only meeting coming last season when the Frogs took down SBC 8-2 at the Vixens' home facility in Virginia.
The action with New Paltz will be the first meeting between the schools.
