TCU will host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend from Jan. 26-27.
FORT WORTH, Texas – For the fourth straight season, the No. 22 TCU men's tennis team will play host the 11th annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend from Jan. 26-27 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs (0-1) are the No. 1 seed in the four-team pod and will face the fourth seed, LMU (0-1), on Saturday at 2 p.m., on the Bernard J. `Tut' Bartzen Varsity Courts. TCU will also welcome No. 20 Oklahoma State (3-0) as the No. 2 seed and Arizona State (0-2) as the No. 3 seed, as the two teams will face-off on Saturday at 2 p.m., as well. The winners of each match will play on Sunday at 1 p.m., for a berth to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by Illinois at the Midtown Athletic Club from Feb. 15-18 in Chicago, Ill.
Admission & Promotions
Admission to the event all weekend is free and fans can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., and free King Korn popcorn courtesy of the Keep It In The Purple Committee during each TCU match.
TCU Notables
TCU is looking to bounce back after dropping its season opener on the road to Tulsa, 4-2, last Friday. Alex Rybakov and Alastair Gray were both successful in singles and doubles in the match to score the lone points for the Frogs in the match.
Rybakov is ranked No. 14 in the ITA singles poll and sits at 9-0 on the season with a 5-0 mark against ranked opponents. Alastair Gray, who is coming back from an injury, is 4-1 in singles action while sophomore Bertus Kruger has nine wins with three over ranked opponents. Rybakov and Gray lead the doubles action for TCU with three wins and a 1-0 mark at the No. 1 position.
Scouting the Lions
LMU will only be playing in its second match of the season on Saturday as the Lions dropped their season-opener to Fresno State, 4-3. LMU won the doubles point against Fresno State, but could not hold on in singles action as the Bulldogs were able to capture four wins to steal the victory. Lukas Moenter and Ethan Prost lead LMU with eight wins a piece in singles action while Moenter pairs up with Lucas Moreno for a team-best 3-1 mark in doubles.
All-Time Series Records
Saturday's match will be the first meeting all-time between TCU and LMU.
