TCU scored the 6-1 victory on Saturday to open the weekend of home action.
FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU women's tennis team got its weekend of home action off to a winning start as the Horned Frogs scored the 6-1 victory over McNeese State on Saturday afternoon at the indoor facility inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (2-0) jumped off to strong leads on the top two courts in doubles action against the Cowgirls (0-1) and never looked back as the Frogs cruised to the doubles point. Aleksa Cveticanin and Kate Paulus were perfect on court one with a 6-0 victory while Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy picked up their second straight win with a 6-3 victory on court three.
Paulus carried the momentum into singles play with the freshman quickly putting point No. 2 on the board with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court four. McNeese State would get its only point of the match with a straight-set win on court two, before TCU grabbed the victories on the final four remaining courts. Cveticanin and Mercedes Aristegui each got their wins in straight sets, while Addy Guevara and Hule each needed a super tiebreaker in the third set to complete their singles victories.
Quotes from the Match
Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker
"The energy in doubles was so much improved. I was really happy to see that much of an adjustment from just four days ago. It's going to become the new normal for us. In singles, Kate (Paulus) was dominant again and showed clear commitment to our system. Some others had opportunities to dominate and they just need to gain some clarity of what their identity is in certain situations. Overall, it was much improved and we need to keep getting better tomorrow afternoon against New Mexico."
