The 2019 spring season will kick-off on the road against Tulsa.
FORT WORTH, Texas – The 2019 spring season will officially begin on Friday for the No. 14 TCU men's tennis team as they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Tulsa at 6 p.m., at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
TCU Notables
TCU will begin a season on the road for the fourth time in the eight seasons under the helm of head coach David Roditi. The last time the Frogs opened a season on the road was in 2017 with the team coming back to Fort Worth with a 1-1 record after a loss to No. 12 Northwestern and a 4-0 win over Tulsa.
TCU wrapped-up fall action last weekend at the Tempe Collegiate Cup with multiple wins across singles and doubles. No. 14 Alex Rybakov remained undefeated in singles action as the senior is 8-0 on the season with five wins over ranked opponents and was rewarded as Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday. Bertus Kruger is pulling in a No. 65 singles ranking and leads the team with nine wins with three victories over ranked opponents.
Scouting the Hurricane
Tulsa has already competed in three matches this season with the most recent being a 6-1 victory over Mercer. The Hurricane got the doubles point and then won five of the six singles matches including four of the victories in straight sets. Tulsa opened the season with a double-header with a 7-0 win over Bryant before dropping a 4-3 decision to Texas Tech. Majed Kilani owns the only ranking at No. 55 in the singles poll as he owns a team-best 11 wins on the season with five of the victories over ranked opponents.

Friday's match marks the 27th meeting all-time between TCU and Tulsa with the Frogs holding the slight advantage at 14-12. TCU has won the last five straight meetings dating back to 2015 including a 4-0 sweep in four of the five matches. Friday's match marks the 11th time playing in Tulsa with the Hurricane holding a 6-4 advantage in matches played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
