
TCU Kicks Off NCEA Action Against Delaware State

FORT WORTH, Texas – The sixth-ranked TCU equestrian program begins the 2018-19 National Collegiate Equestrian Association season at Turning Point Ranch at 11 a.m. on Thursday against Delaware State.
Last Time Out
TCU is coming into the meet against Delaware State following a 14-1 win in an exhibition against Texas Tech on Sept. 21. Nine newcomers earned their first point in the Horned Frog uniform, three of which earned the MOP title for their rides (Wynne Weatherly, Brooke Matson, Natalia DeVencenty). The Frogs are currently ranked No. 6 in the NCEA polls for week two.
The Series
The Frogs lead the Hornets in the all-time series, 10-0. The last time the two teams met was at the NCEA National Championship in the Horsemanship discipline, where TCU downed Delaware State, 4-0, in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals. The last time these two teams met as a whole, TCU beat DSU, 10-5, last season in Felton, Del.

Scouting TCU
In Hunter Seat, expect to see three familiar faces and three new ones in Fences, as well as three familiar faces and three new ones in Flat.
In Equitation over Fences, junior Grace Upshaw will return to the saddle alongside sophomores Alex Beneson and Elizabeth McKim to begin the season. Freshmen Izzy Baxter and last week's MOP Wynne Weatherly will compete in their first regular-season action.
In Equitation on the Flat, Barnett will begin her final season. Beneson, alongside sophomore Janelle Henningsen, will look to start their season on a high note. Matson and Weatherly will also ride on the Flat. Newcomers Baxter and Niki Barnes will ride on the Flat in a demo, as well.
On the Western side, Cydney Benes, Jamie Cook, Josie Mootz, Anna Hauter and last week's MOP Natalia DeVencenty will all compete in Horsemanship to kick off their respective campaigns. Marah Huston will demo for Horsemanship.
In Reining, TCU will feature a number of returners with Josie Ferrante, Elena Hurd, Adrianna Adams, Carly Lombard and Claire Dittrich slated to comprise the NCEA-opening lineup for the second consecutive season.
