Bright and Ryan tally for the Frogs
FORT WORTH – Twice No. 21 TCU battled back from a one-goal deficit to play to a 2-2 tie against Iowa State in the Big 12 opener for both schools. Messiah Bright and Yazmeen Ryan scored for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
The Cyclones cracked the scoreboard first in the 5thminute of play. Emily Steil sent a long feed down field that was placed perfectly for a streaking Klasey Medelberg. She corralled the ball and raced inside the box and sent a high shot under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.
Out of halftime, TCU wasted little time getting the equalizer. Cachet Lue returned the favor to the Cyclones, sending a long pass downfield. Messiah Bright dribbled in and fired the game-tying goal past the Cyclone keeper.
Just under 10 minutes later, Iowa State capitalized on a corner kick to open up a 2-1 advantage.
TCU didn't back down as it kept firing off shot after shot. Eventually all the pressure led to a foul inside the six-yard box. Yazmeen Ryan tied the game as she converted the penalty kick.
The Frogs dominated the overtime sessions, outshooting Iowa State 8-0, but the Cyclone keeper made four stops to help the game end in a tie.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
On the game:
"Soccer is an interesting game. You can dominate on the score sheet and still lose or tie the game. We weren't as cut throat as we needed to be from an attacking perspective and we had one too many miscues defensively."
"I know we can battle back. I know we can be a good team. Hat's off to Iowa State for battling for 110 minutes. I thought Tony and their group did a good job. We did show some resiliency, but we didn't quite get to the peak of the mountain. We have to be better and hopefully we will be on Sunday."
