Frogs post fourth shutout of the season
FORT WORTH – TCU scored a pair of goals in each half in a 4-0 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Four different Horned Frogs tallied a goal in the win. McKenzie Oliver and Haley Mallion each registered a three point night with a goal and an assist.
The Rundown
TCU set the tone in the first minute of the game on a Maddy Warren shot and never let up off the gas. The hard work paid off in the 16thminute after Chaylyn Hubbard drew a foul inside the penalty area. Kayla Hill converted the penalty kick to give the Frogs an early 1-0 lead.
The Frogs closed the half with a goal in the 42ndminute to open up a 2-0 cushion. Haley Mallion fed the ball through traffic to a speedy McKenzie Oliver. She got the goalkeeper out of position and buried her first goal of the season for the insurance tally.
Two more goals followed in the second half. In the 64thminute, Tara Smith carried the ball down the sideline and sent a cross right to the foot of Natalee Heiser. The sophomore didn't miss as she shot the ball past a diving Panther goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead.
Mallion and Oliver teamed up for the final goal in the dying minutes of the game. This time it was Oliver who returned the favor as she sent a pass over to a wide-open Mallion for the easy tally.
Katie Lund was strong when she had to be in goal. She defended five second half corner kicks for the Panthers and made four stops to record the shutout.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
On the fast start:
"We made it a point of emphasis to make sure we started off well in both halves. I thought we did that. We really tried to up the tempo and create some chances that way. It was a good performance by the team for 90 minutes and I'm happy to come away with a win."
On the play of the defense:
"I think people only think of the back line when it comes to defense but we talk about our front five really starting the defense. If they are doing the things that they are supposed to do, then the back line doesn't have a lot of work to do. It makes the game predictable and forces the game into pockets."
