TCU drops match to Bears
WACO, Texas – The TCU women's soccer team was unable to get it done against No. 13 Baylor, falling 1-0 to the Bears on Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field.
The Horned Frogs (5-7-1, 2-5 Big 12) battled until the absolute last second, but a handful of breaks were big difference makers in the match and affected the scoring total as the clock struck zero.
THE RUNDOWN
TCU possessed the ball heavily on Baylor's side of the field for the first 45 minutes of action. The Frog's pressure on defense caused a plethora of difficulties for the Baylor back line and midfield.
However, even with this Bears would get the scoring started first, after the first of numerous video reviews throughout the match gave Baylor a penalty kick that was blocked by Olivia Geller then the rebound was slotted in.
Luck would continue to not be on TCU's side during the first half, as a goal in the 37th minute by Kamdyn Fuller was wiped away due to another reviewed handball in the box by the Frogs.
Heading into the half, TCU led the corner total six to one, but Baylor would have the lead in the shot total seven to five and ultimately on the score sheet.
The second half saw a slower start for the Frogs on the offensive side of the ball, but as the intensity ramped up TCU responded and wound up tying Baylor with seven shots during the period.
The field was able to be switched multiple times on the offensive front and wingers were found in space on the sideline, but as the match was moving along the ball was still kept outside of the net.
With the time ticking down in the match, TCU had all 11 players up in the attacking third eyeing the equalizer. After multiple chances and shots were batted around, the ball was launched in the air and on the way down struck the arm of a Baylor player inside the box with time remaining on the clock. After a lengthy video review after the clock struck zero, the play was deemed unworthy of a penalty and the match ended.
