
Rybakov & Nunez Selected for NCAAs

FORT WORTH, Texas – Alex Rybakov and Guillermo Nuñez earned the Big 12 Conference's automatic bids in singles and doubles and will represent the TCU men's tennis team at the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships that will be held from May 23-28 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
A 2017 ITA All-American in singles, Rybakov will be representing the Horned Frogs for the third straight season in the singles championship. The junior is currently ranked No. 19 in the Oracle/ITA singles poll with an 18-5 record overall this season. The Coral Springs, Fla., native has picked up 11 wins this season over ranked opponents and is currently riding a two-match winning streak headed into postseason. Sophomore Alastair Gray and senior Trevor Johnson were selected as alternates for the NCAA Singles Championship.
The pairing of Rybakov and senior Guillermo Nuñez were the other individual selection for postseason for TCU with the duo earning a top-8 seed in the bracket to automatically earn All-America honors. Rybakov and Nuñez are ranked No. 4 in the Oracle/ITA poll with a 13-2 record this season, seven wins over ranked opponents and currently riding a 12-match winning streak. The pair become the 34th duo in program history to be selected for the doubles championship and are the second straight doubles All-Americans under head coach David Roditi.
The duo along with the rest of the TCU men's tennis team will open postseason by taking part in the team competition starting on May 12, as TCU will host Dartmouth, Oregon and Utah State in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championship at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
