TCU Goes 1-1 in Gamecock Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The TCU beach volleyball team wrapped up action at the Gamecock Challenge with two 3-2 matches on Sunday as the Horned Frogs scored a victory over UNCW to start the day before dropping a heartbreaker to No. 8 South Carolina to finish the weekend in Columbia, S.C.
The duo of Brooke Sassin and Jordan Westendorff were the only pair to go 2-0 on the day with a 22-20, 21-15 win over Raquel Rooney and Jaime Thomas of UNCW to start the day before ending with a 21-14, 22-20 win over Franky Harrison and Jess Vastine of South Carolina.
Sassin and Westendorff's win against UNCW was the first of the day before the Seahawks took a win at the No. 5 position to even up the match. Jensyn Bledsoe and Molly Scheel put TCU back on top with a 21-14, 21-11 victory on court two before UNCW evened it up again with a win on court one. The match came down to the final court and it went the distance with Jaelyn Greene and Jillian Bergeson pulling out the win with a 21-14, 18-21, 21-19 victory on court three.
Sassin and Westendorff once again picked up the first win to start the match against South Carolina, but the Gamecocks responded with wins on courts two, three and four to claim the overall match. Haven Hill and Cassie House ended the day with a straight-set victory at the top as the duo downed Ali Denney and Shannon Williams, 21-16, 22-20.
Up Next
TCU will continue action on the road as they head to the Surf and Turf Invitational in South Beach, Fla., from March 30-31. The Frogs will face South Carolina, Florida State and Georgia State on Friday before taking on Florida Atlantic and Tulane to end the weekend on Saturday.
