The Frogs then made 12-of-19 shots on their way to a 29-point third quarter. They also committed just one turnover in the quarter after having 14 in the first half. TCU held the Lobos to 3-of-16 in the third quarter and took a six-point, 62-56, lead into the final period.
New Mexico had the lead down to two points, 71-69, with 3:09 remaining. That is when Adeola Akomolafe, with her family in the stands from El Paso, drained a long two-point jumper to ignite a TCU run.
Woods converted a three-point play on the next TCU possession and pushed the lead to six, 76-70, with 2:02 remaining. The Frogs forced the Lobos into turnovers on their next two possessions as Akomolafe and Woods followed with another bucket each, pushing the lead to 10 points, 80-70, with less than a minute to go.
