FORT WORTH, Texas – Junior Stefano Mazzoli was selected to compete for the international team at the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup in an announcement first made by the Golf Channel on Wednesday.
The junior from Saint-Raphael, Italy has led the Horned Frogs in five of their eight tournaments this season. Mazzoli recently won the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate by shooting 10-under 206. It was the second time Mazzoli shot 10-under par as he did so at the Amer Ari Invitational on Feb. 3. He has also shot under par in every tournament this season.
Mazzoli has had 21 rounds of par or better this season including nine rounds under 70 this season. His team-best 69.96 round best is nearly four strokes better than last season. Mazzoli was ranked as the No. 2 international player in the latest Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings.
The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played July 6-8 at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France. It features the top male university/college golfers and matches the United States against Europe. In 2018, the participants will include corresponding women golfers who will be added to both the USA and International teams and will thus become the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.
TCU assistant coach Adrien Mork will serve as an assistant coach for the international team. The only other TCU golfer to compete at the Arnold Palmer Cup was Julien Brun, who was selected to the team in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
