FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the 2018 season on Friday morning at the NCAA South Central Regional meet. Facing cold, windy, and muddy conditions, the women's team finished 16th and the men finished 21st.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Evelyn Mandel was once again TCU's top runner, finishing 38th overall with a time of 22:01.1. Kirsten Johnston and Lindsay Tomaini finished back-to-back with times of 22:31.8 and 22:35.3 respectively. Erin Barth finished with a 24:06.5 mark and Isabella Aguiar followed one spot behind in 24:12.7.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Freshman Blaine Stuart was the top Horned Frog in the men's 10K, finishing in 35.35.6. Senior Patrick LaCour was second for TCU, finishing 35:41.0. Dane Boegner finished one spot behind LaCour with a time of 35.41.5. The Christopher Newport University transfer was the only Horned Frog with 10K experience entering Friday's race.
COACH'S THOUGHTS
"We struggled a bit today with the abnormal weather conditions which made for some tough racing," cross country coach Jennifer Fazioli said. "Not quite the result we wanted but both teams gave every effort to finish the season strong. We will just continue to grow and build as we head into the indoor season."
UP NEXT
With the conclusion of the cross country season, the Horned Frogs will move into the indoor track and field season. TCU's first meet is the Reveille Invitational hosted by Texas A&M, scheduled for December 8.
