WACO, Texas -- Two long touchdowns by Jalen Reagor, one through the air and one on the ground, helped lift TCU to its fourth consecutive victory over Baylor as it won 16-9 on Saturday at McLane Stadium.
With the score deadlocked at 9-9 late in the third quarter and the Frogs facing a 4th-and-1, Reagor took matters into his own hands, literally. The sophomore wideout collected a pitch from Emari Demercado on a reverse and raced 37 yards to the end zone for his first career rushing touchdown.
The touchdown was Reagor's second of the day as he took a short screen pass and turned it into a 65-yard score early in the second quarter. He has now recorded at least one receiving touchdown in six consecutive games, matching the TCU record previously set by current NFL standout Josh Doctson in 2015.
That would be all the TCU defense would need as it kept the Bears off the scoreboard the rest of the game, holding off a furious comeback attempt in the last two minutes of the game to close out the win.
Ben Banogu led the defensive effort for the Frogs with a career-high 10 tackles, including 4.0 stops for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble as Baylor was held to its lowest point-total of the year and just 303 total yards, its second-lowest offensive output of the season.
With TCU starting quarterback Mike Collins sidelined by injury in the first quarter, fifth-year senior Grayson Muehlstein guided the Frogs to the victory. He was 11-for-15 for 137 yards, including the touchdown pass to Reagor, in the first extended action of his career.
Demercado paced the Horned Frogs on the ground, rushing 15 times for 60 yards, both career highs for the sophomore.
The Frogs forced three turnovers in the contest. In addition to Simmons' fumble recovery, freshman Trevon Moehrig had the first interception of his young career and Corey Bethley recovered a fumble for the second time in his two seasons at TCU.
